The advertising festival thrown in Cannes each year just threw a curveball at the 35,000 people gathering in Cannes, France starting June 17. This year, the company has decided to put a restriction on five major hotel lobbies and the yacht harbor to pass holders and their guests.
After attending the event for ten years ourselves, we decided to put together a list of the top meeting places within walking distance of the Palais that aren’t #BannedAtCannes.
The list is laid out in what we feel are the best places for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks. This does not mean they’re only open during these times and we always recommend calling ahead for hours and reservations if needed.
With tons of outdoor seating, La Californie is one of the most divine places for brunch in Cannes. Start sipping your morning bubbly early with their cocktail menu or come back in the evening for another round at this chic spot.
This quaint little tea house and delicious brunch spot was mentioned last year in Business Insider as a hidden gem at Cannes. It’s truly a mini getaway with delicious coffee and tea!
Open bright and early at 8 a.m., this cafe is tucked a little further back into the streets of Cannes so you’ll avoid the bustling crowds.
This hip, fun spot has a casual environment perfect for a casual meeting at Cannes. Enjoy their mid-priced French and Italian cuisine or a featured cocktail while taking in the beautiful street views.
Plage translates to beach — which means this amazing lunch spot sits directly on one of the (many) beautiful beaches of Cannes. Enjoy the light and refreshing Mediterranean fare while schmoozing potential investors or partners under beach umbrellas.
Described as modern and cozy, this rooftop bar is one of few still accessible to everyone attending Cannes — making it a definite top spot to meet at Cannes. Wine and dine your top clients, executives, and investors at this swanky venue that offers small, light bites.
Looking for an upscale beach getaway for a few hours? Beach Baoli is right between two of the major hotels that are #BannedAtCannes, the Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic and the InterContinental Carlton, and is still accessible to non-pass holders. Even if you don’t go to the restaurant, take some time to relax on their private beach.
Located only a few meters from the Palais Des Festivals, Upside Down Cafe is truly a beautiful rooftop spot great for lunch or dinner with potential clients and investors. It opens at 12 p.m. for lunch and re-opens at 6 p.m. for dinner.
Hidden within the arts district of Cannes (but not too far away from the Palais) is a newly established restaurant built into an old garage. This modern, somewhat hipster joint is great for a casual yet delicious bite to eat. Surprise your guests by taking them to an art gallery steps away!
Yes, we know we’re keeping the names in French. How does that saying go — when in France, do as the French do? And if you’re at La Plage Du Festival you sip rosé and relax on another private beach. Whether you’re dining on their delicious cuisine or just relaxing, this is a top place to meet at Cannes this year and next.
We’re absolutely in love with this hip, artsy dinner spot. It’s a perfect place to take the millennial creatives in your life — whether they’re artists or ad agency folks!
Open from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m., this spot is perfect for any time of the day, but we’re partial to their dinner and drinks menu. Taking New York City to Cannes with an added French flare, they cater to attendees with their hours and offerings.
Drinks and More
Open 5 p.m.–2 a.m., Morrison’s Lounge is meant for drinking, dancing, and more drinking. They also feature trivia on Monday nights and karaoke on Wednesdays, if you’re looking for a little team bonding time.
If you’re looking for a delicious glass of wine (or ten) this quaint spot is a perfect place to meet near Cannes. Featuring some of the best bottles of wine (that you can order by the glass!), this is a real wine and dine spot for intimate meetings.
We had to end with another private beach that serves delicious cocktails. They also have a restaurant…but who wants food when you could have whatever this fruity blue drink is?!
